Alcohol And Christianity.

I was having a drink today with some of my good friends, and while discussing with a friend about alcohol and Christianity, he said to me; "Daniella it would be a problem (drinking) if when drinking you felt guilt or remorse in your heart." then this is a question that rewinds in my head every time I'm having a drink(alcohol drink). I'm always like "what does Christianity have to do with alcohol." I mean what does alcohol has to do with me being a Christian...
But Hey! Remember the Bible in (Ephesians 5:18) "it says And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit." I often think about this verse, like so I am allowed to drink but not get drunk! And I wonder why drink and not get drunk? That is a question that probably ain't the only person to think of it like that.
But, I think sometimes as humans (including myself) we want the answers in the Bible to be in black and white. It would be so much easier if there was a Bible verse that stated, "Thou shall not drink alcohol, not even one drop", or " If you drink alcohol do not drink to get drunk (with drunk being a blood alcohol level.08 or higher) as this is a sin in the sight of the Lord." I think God looks at the heart and your intentions when it comes to drinking. Drinking to some may be a sin, but to others, a drink with dinner (as long as you're not offending someone else) may not be a sin?
The only prohibitions you will find in Scripture relating to alcohol are drunkenness. Jesus did turn water into wine, not grape juice.
Deut: 14:26 - "You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.
That being said, alcohol is something that we all know is easily abused. Its abuse destroys people and families. I think it's one of those things that unless you truly are confident of what your limits are, and if you think there's even a chance that you could overindulge, that it's best to simply avoid. Nobody ever died from not drinking a beer.
Wedding in Cana
Therefore, when we get to the story of Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11), many people wonder, “Is Jesus saying that it is okay to get drunk?” The answer is a resounding “NO.” The Bible clearly says that drunkenness is sinful (Proverbs 20:1, Eph
esians 5:18). If that is the case, then why does Jesus make alcohol? Isn’t drinking a sin? Hold on still talking... hahaha
Last Supper
In the Bible, we see Jesus and his disciples having wine at the Last Supper (Matthew 26:27-29, see also John 19:29-30) and the Apostle Paul recommending that Timothy drink a little wine for health reasons (1 Timothy 5:23). The Bible does not condemn drinking alcohol altogether, although it does condemn drinking any amount of alcohol that will cause drunkenness. Therefore, according to the Bible, it is acceptable to drink wine, beer, liquor, or other alcoholic beverages, as long as they are in amounts small enough so that you don’t get drunk. Now you can rewind it in your head lol...
Therefore, because the Bible approves of drinking some alcohol, it should not be a problem for us to believe that Jesus turned water into wine. Some people claim that Jesus only made unfermented grape juice that is not like the alcoholic wine of today. However, there is no reliable evidence to support that claim. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the wine that Jesus made at Cana was alcoholic, similar to wine today and that Jesus approved of drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages, but not to the point of drunkenness.
I chose to include the Bible in this and verses that I went to have a proper image of it, and a better understanding. So when we talk about alcohol we tend always to relate and bring it to this to have a better argument and understanding g and defend our Christianity,(To who? that's a topic of another time...)

So according to all of this, we should drink to have a good time with our loved ones...Deut: 14:26, (Matthew 26:27-29, see also John 19:29-30),(1 Timothy 5:23). And we should Pray to get help from the holy spirit to do and drink according to those that are written.
PSA: I chose this topic because of the day I had and don't forget one has his own beliefs and opinions about this or any other subject.
It not a lot of words about those are the ones I could share with my cup of tea.
May the Lord bless you and allow you to it through clearly.
(Say I receive) hahaha.
Yours Faithfully,
Daniella.

The misconception of drinking as Christians is always an issue but you explained it so well. I believe that that’s why God gave us the holy spirit . If you have convictions i believe you should do what you feel guided to do . YOU DID IT AGAIN this was amazing
You know rightttt... You are welcome!!
You explained it well, many people use those bible verses to reinforce their drunkenness while others use it sometimes in ignorance accusing others of not being Christians because of alcoholism. But anyways thank you Daniella and we receive🙏
